THE STRAND YANGON PART1

The Strand opened in 1901. During World War II, following the Japanese occupation of Burma, the Imperial Hotel Tokyo took over the management. In the late 80s, Adrian Zecha, the legendary hotelier who founded Aman Resorts, invested in this hotel and embarked on its first restoration. The recent renovation has given the Strand a chic boutique-hotel feel, while retaining its colonial atmosphere, which is represented by wonderfully high ceilings. The entire property is filled with tranquility as there are only 30 or so rooms. I have been wanting to stay here for years and now I am finally checking in.
