EDO-TOKYO OPEN AIR ARCHITECTURAL MUSEUM: A HOUSE IN DENENCHOFU

I continued the visit to the Yamanote (uptown) section of the museum. The first stop was "A House in Denenchofu" originally built in 1925. The Denenchofu neighborhood, located southwest part of Tokyo, was developed in the early 20th century by a real estate company which had later become Tokyu Corporation. The developer was inspired by posh residential areas in the US and UK and aimed to make the town a suburban utopia.

All rooms have the Western style interior. But the roof was built in Japanese style using kawara tiles.
