This architectural gem was built as a guest villa for the king in 1962 by a French architect and witnessed Cambodia's twisted fate. After leaving royalty, it had been turned into a high-end hotel, later taken over by Khmer Rouge and severely destroyed. Next, it was turned into a hotel again. Then, in the end, it was ruined again. In 2002, Amanresorts discovered it and renovated staying true to the original design. The room they gave us is one of twelve suites in the original building.
