Luckily I could have hotel's swimming pool all to myself. Swimming in this pool at night makes you feel like you're floating inside glittering lights of COEX and Samseong-dong. ラッキーにもホテルのプールを独り占めすることができた。夜ここで泳ぐと、COEXと三成洞の煌びやかな光の中で浮いているような感じになる。

My third stay here. This Park Hyatt is nicely understated and their room that has a spacious bathroom is quiet and cozy. The downside is that many taxi drivers still don't know where it is. ここに泊まるのは3回目。このパークはいい感じでひっそりとしていて、広々としたバスルームがついた部屋は静かで居心地が良い。残念なのは、いまだに多くのタクシードライバーがその場所を知らないこと。

Flying to Gimpo on the same flight as last time . This evening, the flight is operated with a younger 3-year-old A330 that has newer seats. However, the seats have no big difference from the older ones. 前回と同じ便 で金浦へ飛ぶ。今夜使われる機材は、新しいタイプのシートを積んだ機齢3年の若いA330。とはいえ、シートに大きな違いはない。 Bibimbaps , as always. ASIANA A330-300 HND-GMP. 1.5h before boarding. This evening, there is no 787s on JAL tarmac. ボーディングまであと1時間半。今夜はJALのターマックに787がいない。

Early dinner at Towers on the 45th floor of The Ritz-Carlton, Tokyo. There were no other customers around, so it was nice and quiet. I could have Tokyo’s night views all to myself. ザ・リッツ・カールトン東京のタワーズで早めのディナー。ほかには客がいなかったのでとても静かで、東京の夜景を独り占めすることができた。

I delivered a lecture entitled "Creating Alternative Futures" at Waseda University School of International Liberal Studies as part of an undergraduate course taught by Dr. Christian Dimmer. "Poemes LI (No.51)", the artwork of  Raúl de la Torre , has arrived at my hallway from LA. Raúl is a Catalan artist who is a member of LACMA Council. The artist says this piece of art using acrylic and thread was inspired by a series of verses by Miquel Marti i Pol, one of the most popular Catalan poets in the 20th century. ラウル・デ・ラ・トーレ の作品「Poemes LI (No.51)」が、LAから我が家の玄関に到着した。ラウルはLACMAカウンシルのメンバーでもあるカタロニア人アーティスト。作家によると、アクリル絵具と糸を組み合わせたこの作品は、20世紀のカタロニアで最も人気がある詩人の一人、ミクエル・マルティ・イ・ポルの詩からインスパイアされたという。

Flying back to Narita on a 777 that was named after the CEO of Delta Air Lines from 1978 to 1987 . 1978年から1987年までデルタのCEOだった人の名前がつけられた777 で成田に戻る。 This must be the last sundae of the year for me. Delta B777-200 LAX-NRT. The 670th flight in my lifetime. これが僕にとって今年最後のサンデーになるはず。デルタ B777-200 LAX-NRT。生涯670フライト目。

Checking out some birds who have 8 in their names at Tom Bradley International Terminal. First, a Korean A380 and a bunch of ground equipment. トム・ブラッドレー・インターナショナルターミナルで、名前に8が入っている鳥たちを鑑賞する。こちらは、たくさんのグラウンドイクイップメントを従えたコリアンのA380。 And her rival, Asiana's A380. そして、そのライバル。アシアナのA380。 A Dreamliner from Ethiopia. She flies to Addis Ababa via Dublin. エチオピアからやってきたドリームライナー。この機はダブリン経由でアディスアベバまで飛ぶ。 Representing South America. A Dreamliner of LAN who has now become LATAM after its merger with TAM of Brazil. 南米代表、LANのドリームライナー。LANはブラジルのTAMと合併して、現在はLATAMというエアラインになっている。

Again, checking in at the private Delta One check-in lounge at LAX. 今回も、LAXの Delta One専用プライベートチェックインラウンジ でチェックイン。 A Delta agent gave my Rimowa One a new sticker saying "Shall we cover this AA sticker?" デルタのスタッフが「このAAのステッカー、隠しちゃおうか？」と言いながら、新しいステッカーを僕の リモワ・ワン に貼ってくれた。 A morning view from Delta Sky Club. デルタ スカイクラブからの朝の眺め。

Starwood keeps spoiling me. They gave me a large corner suite that has a mid-century-esque pendant lights. Unfortunately I can't fully use this room because I'm here for a quick one night transit stay. スターウッドには甘やかされ続けている。今回はミッドセンチュリー風情のペンダントライトがついた大きなコーナースイートをくれた。一泊のクイックなトランジットステイなので、残念ながらこの部屋を完全に使いきることができない。 Last time I stayed here, the hotel offered a temporary Club lounge due to renovation. Now they have a new lounge. 前回ここに泊まった時はリノベーションのために 仮のクラブラウンジ しかなかったが、今回は新しいラウンジが完成していた。
