Dinner at "Yorozuya Okagesan" introduced by novelist Ms. Maha Harada . The aesthetics of the owner & chef Mr. Kanzaki is presented on every dish and that's the reason why this tiny basement Japanese izakaya draws international attention. On top of that, Kanzaki-san is a big fan of Harada-san's novel " Tsubasa wo kudai ~Freedom in the sky" which I participate in as an aviation adviser. Luckily, this great place is also in my neighborhood. 2012 Michelin 1 star. 作家の 原田マハさん が紹介してくれた「萬屋おかげさん」で夕飯。すべての料理に盛り込まれたオーナーシェフ神崎氏のこだわりが、この地下にある小さな居酒屋を国際的な注目が集まる場所にしている。そのうえ神崎氏は、僕が航空アドバイザーとして参加させてもらった原田さんの小説 「翼をください~Freedom in the sky」 の大ファン。幸運にも、この名店も我が家の近所にある。2012年ミシュラン1スター。

Because of United & Continental merger, my 11 digits United Mileage Plus number I've been using since 1992 was finally terminated and replaced with the new number. The original number had been with me for a longer time than any of my phone numbers. It's just a number but I kinda feel like I lost my long-time travel companion. And I think UA's 70-early 90s logo (on blue card) is way cooler than any of their recent logos. ユナイテッドとコンチネンタルの合併のせいで、1992年から使っていた11桁のユナイテッド・マイレージプラスの番号がついに廃止され、新しい番号に切り替えられてしまった。オリジナルの番号はどんな電話番号よりも長い間一緒に居たのだが。単なる番号に過ぎないが、古くからの旅の仲間を失ったような気持ちになる。ユナイテッドのロゴも、最近のものより70年代-90年代初期のもの（青いカードのほう）の方が圧倒的にかっこいい 。

Enjoyed beefy feasts at Imahan & Okahan, 2 restaurants with "han" representing Tokyo's traditional sukiyaki dishes. Imahan's beef is from Tottori Prefecture. The one served at Okahan is from Nagasaki Prefecture. 今半と岡半 で牛肉三昧。 東京で伝統的なすき焼き料理と言えばこの2つの「半」。 今半の肉は鳥取県から。岡半のものは長崎県から。

Jiyu Ongaku Gakuen (Academy) , a vocational school of music founded by my grandfather in 1946, ended its 66-year-long history this March. Now some of their old photos are archived with a chronology on a dedicated Facebook page where you can retrace their footsteps. This is a school building in Nihonbashi Kakigaracho built in 1965. I still have a dim memory of the Toden streetcars running on the street in front of the school. 僕の祖父が1946年に創設した音楽の専門学校 「自由音楽学園」 が、この3月、66年の歴史に幕を下ろした。 そこで学校の足跡をたどる 専用のFacebookページ が新たに作られ、年表と一緒に古い写真のアーカイブを見ることができるようになった。これは1965年に日本橋蛎殻町に建てられた校舎。学校の前の通りに都電が走っていたことを微かに憶えている。 The school was originally started as a night school for working people right after WWII. Grandpa must have thought people in the ravaged city needed music.
