Before leaving Malaysia, I spent some time in the Regional Golden Lounge of Malaysia Airlines . This lounge is called Regional but it is a spacious, full-service lounge. Through the window, I enjoyed viewing the 737-800 in MH's 40-year retro livery that pleases the eyes of a cheatline fan like me.  マレーシアを離れる前に、 マレーシア航空 のリージョナルゴールデンラウンジで時間をつぶす。リージョナルという名前がつけられているものの、ここは広々としたフルサービスのラウンジだった。窓の外には、僕のようなチートライン好きにはたまらない、40周年記念レトロカラーをまとったMHの737-800がいた。

Here is a collection of modernist architecture in Malacca that fascinated me. This is the Melaka Folks Art Gallery, painted in the same color as the Christ Church Melaka. マラッカで気になったモダニスト建築を集めてみた。こちらはマラッカキリスト教会と同じ色に塗られたムラカフォークアートギャラリー。 Bangunan Madonna, or Madonna Building, next to the Church of St. Francis Xavier. バングナン・マドンナ。つまり、マドンナ・ビルディング。セントフランシルザビエル教会の隣にある。 Chanson Building in the Jonker Walk area is looking for a tenant or an owner. ジョンカーウォークエリアにあるチャンソンビルはテナントもしくはオーナーを募集中。 The Central Hotel on Jalan Bendahara has a pretty impressive facade with a bunch of doored windows. I'm not sure if they still run the hotel. ジャランベンダハラに建つセントラルホテルは、大量のドア付き窓が並ぶファサードが素晴らしい。まだホテルを営業しているのかはわからないが。 May Chiang Hotel has a typical design of a modern shophouse on the corner . メイチアンホテル。 交差点に面したモダニズムショップハウス の典型的なデザイン。

The humid air gets cooler. And the local shrines of Malacca start to shine. 湿った空気の温度が下がり、マラッカの神々が輝き始める。

Traditional Peranakan dishes, chicken rice with ball-shaped rice (they call it "chicken rice ball"), home-style curry and noodles, street-style Sarawak noodles, and much more. In Malacca, one stomach is not enough. 伝統的なプラナカン料理、球形のライスでサーブされるチキンライス（「チキンライスボール」と呼ばれている）、家庭的な味わいのカレー麺、ストリートフードっぽいサラワク麺などなど。マラッカでは胃が一つでは足りない。

My catches of the day: The iconic peepholes on the "5-foot way" covered sidewalk of traditional shophouses, a Chinese-influenced minaret, an Art Deco boutique hotel with lots of flagpoles, an international-style building near the ferry terminal with a bit of Tel Aviv flavor, and a very spicy facade of a shophouse in Little India. 本日の収穫：伝統的ショップハウス前の 「5フィート通路」 に作られたアイコニックな丸い覗き穴。中華風ミナレット。沢山の旗竿を持ったデコなブティックホテル。フェリーターミナルの近くに建つ、若干 テルアビブ 味があるインターナショナルスタイルの建物。そして、リトルインディアで見つけた相当スパイシーなショップハウスのファサード。

The party lights are all over the Malacca River . It's the best time of the day for a riverside stroll. マラッカ川 の周りをパーティーライトが照らしだす。川沿いの散歩はこの時間が一番楽しい。

It seems that Malacca's shophouses went through a similar evolution as those in George Town , and some of them have more modern-looking facades, including the ones influenced by the Art Deco aesthetic. Among them, I found one of the coolest 7-Eleven and FamilyMart stores in the world. Just like George Town, Penang , Malacca has a large concentration of traditional Strait-style shophouses. Some facades are used as if they were canvas. From the top: Jalan Hang Kasturi, Jalan Tun Tan Cheng Lock, Jalan Bunga Raya, Jalan Bunga Raya, Jalan Tun Tan Cheng Lock ペナンのジョージタウン 同様、マラッカにも伝統的な海峡式ショップハウスが大量に集積している。ファサードをキャンバスのように使っているものもあった。上から：ジャランハンカストゥリ、ジャランタンタンチェンロック、ジャランブンガラヤ、ジャランブンガラヤ、ジャランタンタンチェンロック

The Malacca River is like the main street of Malacca. If you walk along it, you can go anywhere—the Jonker Walk old town, the waterfront area, bar alleys, the ferry terminal, and even a modern shopping mall. The town's main square, where the red 18th-century Dutch-built church stands, is also on the river. マラッカ川はマラッカのメインストリートのよう。旧市街のジョンカーウォークも、ウォーターフロントエリアも、飲み屋街も、フェリーターミナルも、モダンなショッピングモールも、すべて川沿いにあるので、どこかへ行きたければ川に沿って歩けばいい。18世紀にオランダ人が建てた赤い教会が目印になっている街の中心的な広場も、川の真横にある。

The heat of the day has left the city on the Straits, and the riverboats have turned on their neon lights. Now it's time for an evening coffee in the hotel library. 海峡沿いの街を包んでいた昼間の熱気が去り、リバーボートにネオンが点ったら、 ホテル のライブラリーで夜のコーヒーの時間。
