GOODBYE WBC

To me, WBC doesn't mean a baseball match. It means World Business Class of my dear Northwest Airlines. Unfortunately, from this month, the name is consolidated with Delta's BusinessElite and disappears because of Delta/NWA merger. When it comes to WBC, I still nostalgically remember the smaller upper deck of the 747-200. It was originally used for First Class, however, it was turned into WBC keeping the same interior after NWA terminated international first class service. So the cabin was spacious, had a private feel, and gave me one of the best C-class experiences in my whole flying life. So long, WBC. Thank you for all the wonderful transpacific memories. 僕にとってWBCは野球の大会のことではない。それは我が親愛なるノースウエスト航空の「ワールドビジネスクラス」のこと。デルタとノースの合併のため、残念ながらその名前は今月からデルタ航空の「ビジネスエリート」に統合されて消えることになった。WBCといえば、今でも747-200の小さなアッパーデッキを懐かしく思い出す。-200のアッパーデッキはもともとファーストクラスだったのだが、ノースがインターナショナルファーストクラスを廃止したあとは、ファーストのインテリアを残したままWBCとして使われていた。だからそのキャビンはゆったりとしていて、プライベートな雰囲気があり、僕が体験したCクラスの中で最も素晴らしいものの一つだった。さよなら、WBC。沢山の素晴らしい太平洋横断の思い出をありがとう。これは僕のトラベルファイルの中にある1999年のメニュー。
