AMAN KYOTO: THE EXPERIENCE
Mr. Shiota, Aman Kyoto's GM and a hospitality veteran who was at The St. Regis Osaka and The Ritz-Carlton, Osaka before, explained to me that Kyoto's strict regulations for development/landscape/environment were a part of the reason why they took almost 20 years to open an Aman in Kyoto. And I learned that a unique townhouse-style layout of the rooms was a solution to meet these requirements. He also said that they still need more time to build the additional facilities they need, such as a bar/library and a swimming pool. They may not have the full capability as an Aman yet, but great hospitality delivered by people like Takazakura-san at guest relation complements it.
